Awesome Reward from Outback

A warm hello to all you readers! How are you this summer? I’m, well, hot in here. Whew! I really hope rain is in my future. Anyway, according to the title, a reward, or should I say token, was given to me and my brother from the Outback in thanks. You’re probably thinking, “What did they do to deserve whatever-it-is?” Well, if you wanna find out, read the whole entry. Hope you like it!

May 19, 2012

This is how it started: I wrote a blog post entitled “The Trip to the Outback”, right? After I published it, my Mom e-mailed its link to the marketing manager of the Outback. The manager, whose full name is Vanessa Calimlim, liked it so much that, on May 17, 2012, she called here at home and asked for Mom. Mom took the phone and she and the manager talked for a while. After she hung up, Mom told me and Eco what the caller had told her. It appears that Mom also gave the link of Eco’s blog post to her. {You see, he also made a blog post about the Outback.} The manager said that she wanted to meet us at Outback in Glorietta 4 at Makati. Mom had told her that we would come on May 19, 2012, which is Saturday.

Here’s a reason why Mom picked Saturday: On May 18, 2012, it’s our Papa’s birthday. So he said that we are going to stay at Ascott hotel for 3 days and 2 nights. Ascott hotel is in Makati. And from there, it’s just a short walk to Outback.

On Friday, May 18, 2012, after eating lunch, we visited Outback and asked to talk to Tita Vanessa. The waiter went to call the manager. We sat on a bench and waited. The manager herself emerged from a room carrying two envelopes. We introduced ourselves, and she shook our hands. She gave us the envelopes with our names written on them. On the envelope, mine said:

Gabrielle Feria

Blog PR Token

{By the way, PR means Public Relations}
We said our thanks, and the waiters served us glasses of iced tea. Mom took a few pictures of me, Eco and Tita Vanessa. We talked for a few minutes while we finished our drinks. When we were done, we said thank you to her again, and Mom promised we will be there tomorrow for lunch.

{Do you want to know what we had for dinner that day? Then go to the next post when you’re done.}

The next day, we did go back to Outback for lunch. I already read the letter inside the envelope. It said:

Marketing Certificate

This entitles bearer, Gabrielle Feria, to avail Choice of one (1) Weekday Lunch entrée at any Outback Steakhouse in the Philippines. Given 16th of May 2012, as token for Facebook and Blog review.

That day was Saturday, and in the letter it says, ” Choice of one (1) Weekday Lunch entrée“. It wasn’t a

weekday; it was a weekend! Then I remembered Tita Vanessa yesterday saying we could ask the waiters which meals are available. The waiter said, “Every meal is available except the salad.”

So Eco ordered Bloomin’ Steak Sandwich, while I ordered Smothered Steak. Mom, Papa and Zia ordered Ribs and Oz and Appy ordered Toowoomba pasta split into two plates. Papa ordered Outback Nachos for us to eat while we waited for our meals. They also served us Bushman’s bread.

When we finished our appetizers, the waiters served us our meals.  The steak was soft. It had caramelized onions, and Swiss cheese on top. It also had mushrooms, peppercorn sauce, and bacon. On the side of the steak were mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. The veggies consisted of chopped carrots, broccoli, and courgette. All in all, I like it. Especially the peppercorn sauce. It gives more flavor to the steak. Yum!

Even the nachos were good! I thought the purple colored ones had different flavor. They all taste the same. The toppings were ground beef, jalapeno, tomatoes, olives, cheese, sour cream and more.

We all had a delicious lunch. Everything from the appetizers to our main meals was delectable.

  • Alabang Town Center {Tel. No.: 772-1845 or 772-1844}
  • Acropolis, Libis {Tel.No.: 634-3801}
